Dale Heaston, OD Kind, thoughtful, and friendly Dale Heaston’s professional integrity and excellent problem solving skills inspire patient confidence. Patients admire his wealth of experience, superb clinical skills, and attention to thorough communication.
Born in Tacoma, Dale grew up in Richland and learned from his father and founder of Heaston Vision Clinic, Dr. W.D. Heaston, that genuinely caring for patients is the foundation to providing excellent patient care. Dale is also committed to giving back to his profession and the community. He is the recipient of the Washington Optometric Physician’s Young O.D. of the Year award, named Volunteer of the Year by the Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau, and Administrator of the Year by the Washington State Youth Soccer Association District 6, and spearheaded the development of the Tri-Cities Soccer Complex.
Dale enjoys family times, playing golf, tennis, and skiing. Dale and his wife Suzanne, a public affairs manager, have two daughters Liz and Karen both of whom practice with him. Dale graduated from Illinois College of Optometry and is a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. |

Trent Thompson, OD Kind, thoughtful, even mannered, Trent Thompson’s quiet helpfulness and unpretentious concern for others endears him to people. Patients and doctors admire his clinical experience, knowledge and excellent communication skills.
Born in Glendive, Montana, Trent grew up on a wheat farm in Western North Dakota. Trent graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of Mary, Bismark, North Dakota where he received a degree in Biology and also received the BSK Silver Medal award for his academic achievements. He was named Valedictorian of his Optometric class at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon.
Trent enjoys hunting, fishing, and golf. Trent and his wife, Elizabeth who also practices at the Heaston and Thompson Vision Clinic, have a daughter, Isabella, a son, Benjamin and a chocolate lab named Meka (Hawaiian for eyes.) |

Elizabeth Heaston, OD Positive, outgoing, and energetic, Elizabeth “Liz” Heaston’s enthusiastic clinical approach endear her to her patients. Her caring demeanor, intrinsic love of children and specialized training in diagnosing pediatric conditions combine to make her an excellent pediatric clinician. Optometric community service is important to Liz and she provides vision screenings and lectures on children’s vision development.
An outstanding athlete, Liz was born in Richland and is on the Richland High School’s (RHS) Athletic Wall of Fame for her accomplishments in track. She played collegiate soccer at Willamette University (Salem, Oregon) where she earned All American honors while earning a biology degree. She is nationally famous for being the first woman to play and score in a college football game. The two points after Touchdown earned her a permanent place in the College Football Hall of Fame. She is currently the assistant coach for the RHS girls soccer team.
Liz earned her optometric degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon receiving an award in Vision Therapy.
Liz enjoys playing soccer and tennis and quilting. Liz and her husband, Trent Thompson who also practices at the Heaston and Thompson Vision Clinic, have a daughter, Isabella, a son, Benjamin, and a chocolate lab named Meka (Hawaiian for eyes.) |

Karen Marie Heaston, OD Compassionate, energetic and enthusiastic Karen Heaston's outgoing manner sets the tone for a relaxing yet precise examination. Her optimistic outlook and caring demeanor inspires patient confidence that combine to make her an excellent clinician. Karen's Optometric interests are pediatrics and specialty populations including patients on the Autism Spectrum. An outstanding athlete, Karen was born in Richland and is on the Richland High School's (RHS) Athletic Wall of Fame for her accomplishments in soccer. She played collegiate soccer at Willamette University (Salem, Oregon) where she earned All American honors in women's soccer. Karen earned her optometric degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon specializing in Vision Therapy. Karen was a four year Beta Sigma Kappa Member while at Pacific University where she was elected "Who's Who" for American Students in American Universities & Colleges.
Karen enjoys hiking, photography, charity half or full marathons and volunteer coaching with the girl's soccer team at RHS.
She and her husband, Jason, live in Pasco with dogs, Winston (GSP) & Drake (Black lab).
